Happenings

Went to the Arcade Fire show at the Roxy in Boston Thursday. It was FANtastic, best show Ive seen since the Walkmen and French Kicks at the Paradise a while back. This was the last show of Arcade Fires first headlining tour and they did not disappoint the full capacity crowd. The band played through their entire first full length album "Funeral" as well as some new material and a couple covers. It was nice to see a show in a quality club with a professional sound system again, I was getting a little burned out on basement and crappy bar shows, the only drawback being beers were $7 (and it wasnt even a strip club!! crazy).

I was back in Boston Friday night to party with Pete and the crew in Allston, and to see his band The Nightlights play in his living room. They sounded about as good as anyone could in an old apartment living room, but the highlight of the evening was the impromptu scream-core jam session that took play later in the night, which eventually led to the demise of the gathering but brought me back to my days of going to skate parks and local rec. centers in CT to check out hardcore bands. Later on in the weekend I spent a bit of time setting up Debian to replace my old RH Fedora server.

Ahhhhrgggg

I blew out the alignment of my car running over some very hard and very uneven ice on the way home from work. Now I have to add that to my list of car related chores I need to get done tommorow. This will be quite the experiment to see if I can get up at 7am tomorrow. FYI coworkers that read this (prolly the only people that read this) I may be a bit late for work.

Im lazy...

...both in live journal and real life and the part where they intersect, ven diagram style, too. So I still havent made it to the library in Nashua, my car is 23 days overdue on inspection, and my apartment is a mess. On the bright side I won $50 in blackjack and managed to chip but quickly arrange free repair of my windshield this weekend. On a differant note does anyone want to suggest a good reason for Morrissey writing the lyrics "Shoplifters of the world unite and take over"? Oh well, some would take comfort in the fact that at the very least the song has no crappy sound effects juxtaposed with his sweet sweet voice. That is the first time I have ever used "juxtaposed" in a written sentence and I feel fairly good about that, I think I will add it to my list of accomplishments for the weekend.

Reading might be nice.

Walking around the mall last night I was inspired to buy a non technical piece of writing for some intellectual stimulation. I headed over to Waldenbooks to look for Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris because I’ve heard really good things about this guy (Not things like "he'll get your back" more related to his writing). Waldenbooks was charging $14.99 and thought that was a little much for a fairly small paperback and decided this would be a perfect opportunity to get a shiny new library card (and figure out where the Nashua library is), or go the e-shopping route. At least I got to thumb through the book a bit and it definitely looks like something I will enjoy. If anyone has book suggestions or thoughts on the aforementioned author then hook me up.

This is a public service announcement....

WITH GUITARS!!! ahh but I jest. More accurately this is a post containing very little information designed for no one in particular (hmm on second thought maybe it is a PSA) and best of all its the first of many to come! No guitars here though folks, don’t let my member name fool you I’m rather light on the musical talent (sorry ladies), but I'm an avid appreciator. That’s it for now I just wanted to break the seal on LJ, interpret that any way you wish.
